Hello & Welcome

I wanted to do a little blog post to fully introduce myself and let you guys get to know me better.

Some of you may be familiar with Weird & Wonderful already. I originally set up the business in 2018 offering pet services after completing my zoo keeping degree. Whilst looking for care for my own pets, I found that there were very little qualified and experienced pet care businesses nearby and suddenly my dream started to come alive!

So how did we get here… to dog training and behaviour?

In 2022 I moved away to Cumbria and started working in an independent rescue. I was a dog and cat caseworker and I absolutely loved it, it completely changed my way of thinking and my plans for the future.

One of my role responsibilities was to assess dogs, create a training plan and put that training plan in place for the animals that were under my care. We saw lots of different dogs, situations and behavioural struggles come through the rescue and I fell in love with every one of them.

I completely fell in love with dog training, supporting them through their behavioural struggles and helping them find their new home.

So of course when we moved back to North Yorkshire, starting my own Dog Training and behaviour business was the goal. I wanted to not only help dogs feel their best but also help their humans have a better relationship with them, improved communication and live more harmoniously together.

It was important for me not to jump into it straight away. I have always been a big advocate for having experience and qualifications when it comes to working with animals so I started volunteering with a highly qualified dog trainer/behaviourist as well as getting many more qualifications and knowledge under my belt… but this will never stop. I pride myself in learning as much as I can.

Here at Weird & Wonderful Dog Training and Behaviour we work with kind positive training methods and up to date scientific information. We believe dog training should be fun for both you and your dog, after all, they are not something that belongs to us but rather part of the family.

I still do a lot of dog walking and other animal care, over the years I’ve grown close to my regular dogs and clients and I do love getting out into the fresh air on a daily basis. I don’t think this will ever change, most of my regular dogs are my family.

Take a look at the rest of the website to learn more about me and the business. Or feel free to drop me a message, text or email to ask any questions!

Love,

Casey 💚
