Frequently asked questions?

In case you haven’t found the answer to your question on the website, take a look at these frequently asked questions.

Alternatively feel free to give me a message on 07563679730 or any of my social media pages.

Where are you based?

I cover a multitude of different areas in North Yorkshire including but not limited to:

  • Thirsk

  • Northallerton

  • Boroughbridge

  • Ripon

  • Leeming Bar

  • Bedale

  • Knaresborough

  • Wetherby … and beyond.

Please don’t hesitate to get in touch to check if your area is covered. Alternatively we can always meet somewhere appropriate depending on the behaviour issue.

What type of training do you do?

It’s a hard decision picking out a dog trainer, with so many different businesses, training methods and everyone telling you that their way is best.

I like to focus on the science and use up to date research. This is why I am a force free dog trainer.

For me, my dogs welfare is paramount, and I’m sure you wouldn’t be out here looking for a dog trainer if you didn’t feel the same way as me. I simply prefer to treat dogs in a kind, respectful and positive manner. Just how I would like everyone to treat me. I could go on and on in depth about the science and the training methods but we will leave that to another post.

So to sum up. I use positive reward based training methods. I would never ask anything that would make your dog or you uncomfortable and this includes not using nasty tools within my training.

What appointments do I have available?

I know how busy life can get and sometimes it can be difficult squeezing in another appointment. I try to be as flexible as possible and offer a couple of different options to try find something that works with your schedule.

I also can work some weekends so don’t worry if your weeks are jam packed. Just let me know this when you get in touch so I can make sure I have some space free for you.

How do training and behaviour sessions work?

This completely depends on multiple factors including what kind of behaviours we are working on.

I tailor each session to individual dogs and families to make it as successful and personalised as possible.

Some sessions I will come to your home, others we may do out and about. Some will involve more hands on training while more challenging behaviour struggles will require more in depth conversation, questions and investigation. I’m not just here to give you short term advice but look at the deep rooted issue so we can understand the issue fully and fix it properly.

If your unsure and want to know what your in for before you book an appointment. Simply give me a message and we can chat about your dog, your family and what would work best for you both.

What about if I don’t have time to do loads and loads of training with my dog? Is it still worth booking a session?

Dog training doesn’t have to be a mammoth task, often our training games are much more simpler than you think but they have huge affects.

The most effective dog training is done in short and sweet bursts. Too much at one time can get boring and tedious (for you and your dog!) so you don’t need hours and hours a day free. I can help tailor your plan so that you don’t get overwhelmed.

I also offer training walks where I would come do some of the hands on training for you, I know how busy life gets so sometimes having that extra support can help you and your dog progress at a faster rate.

What about if I forget everything you’ve said in the session?

Whether it’s a training session or a behavioural appointment, each client will get access to a Google drive folder with all the information discussed in the session… and much more. Behaviour 1:1’s come with an additional written plan personalised to your pooch.

This information is in easy to read simple guides which you can access through your phone wherever you are.

And of course, if you are ever stuck. I’m only a text message or phone call away. I like to pride myself in going the extra mile and offering as much support as I can.

How can I get in touch with you?

I am always happy to talk dogs, dog training and more so please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

You can contact me by phone/whatsapp on 07563679730. Please note, I do often have my hands full on dog walks or sessions and I like to keep my phone away so make sure to leave a voicemail or shoot me a text and we can arrange a time to call.
